Political Action - ABC National has a large staff devoted to handling legislation and current regulations on the Federal level, while the chapter staff covers the Arkansas Legislature and regulatory agencies. We promote legislation that is beneficial to the Merit Shop construction industry and inform ABC members of legislation that could be detrimental to their companies. Publications - ABC of Arkansas distributes a monthly newsletter, “The Merit Shop Report,” that keeps our members informed with articles about political activity, events, and management education. Distributed to all ABC members as well as some architects and engineers, it gives members an opportunity to advertise in a widely read publication. ABC National also has a magazine entitled Construction Executive, which offers members an opportunity to monitor progress and issues throughout the nation. Excellence in Construction - ABC presents an annual awards program, honoring a wide variety of projects that exemplify the quality workmanship of Merit Shop construction. This competition is open to any ABC member in good standing. ABC provides publicity for the winning firms, with a special section in the Merit Shop Report, and a photo/story in a fall issue of South Central Construction Magazine. Plans Room Access and Reports - ABC offers seven plans rooms where plans are available for review and copying. We send out weekly reports to our membership detailing the plans in each location, and these reports are also posted weekly to this website. Directories - ABC of Arkansas publishes an annual directory with listings of all ABC members. The directory is supplied to all members, as well as architects, construction users, and engineers. Advertising opportunities are available in the directory to allow advertisers a long shelf life and frequency rate within the construction industry. ABC National also publishes a national directory online at www.abc.org. This directory is frequently used by members to select contractors, suppliers, and other members when putting projects together out-of-state. Find a Contractor - A database is kept both on a state and national level of all ABC members and it is marketed to construction users. Construction users call in and request information on contractors and suppliers who meet specific criteria and a list is provided to them free of charge. Health Insurance - ABC offers a wide variety of health insurance plans with “freedom of choice” and PPO plans. Dental and vision coverage are available.
