NWA Bike Trail Building Project & Family Ride Day 2018

Looking for a volunteer opportunity to help your community?!

Northwest Arkansas has become a new and exciting destination for Mountain Biking and with that comes a lot of trail maintenance. On Saturday, September 22nd, ABC Arkansas is partnering with the Ozark Off Road Cyclists for a volunteer trail building project followed by lunch and family activities! This will be a great opportunity to invest in your community, enjoy time with family and friends, and learn more about mountain biking and the trail systems in our state. Everyone is encouraged to attend! No previous experience required!

OORC has been partnering with the community of Siloam Springs to develop a new multiuse soft-surface trail system at City Lake on the North side of the City. This project has included a lot of new infrastructure and exciting trails for hiker, bikers, and runners. As part of this project, ABC Arkansas volunteers will construct two separate flat span bridge / boardwalk type sections. More details below!

When & Where
Saturday, September 22, 2018

Build Project:
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Family Bike Ride & Lake Activities:
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

City Lake Park
22536 Dawn Hill Rd E
Siloam Springs, AR 72761

Build Project Details:
All materials will be provided. Two bridges will be constructed at grade, and we estimate them to be 24' x 4' each (total of 96 SF each). They are non-railed. Additionally, we will need to connect the two sections with single track, so trail building could be a part of the day should we have ample volunteers.

Family Activities:
In the afternoon, local bike shops will provide bikes and canoes to our volunteers and their families. City Lake is open to flat water paddling, and the trails that are already built make for a great afternoon for a family hike or mountain bike ride!
