Project Manager


Position Overview

Accomplish project objectives by planning, evaluating and reporting project activities. Responsible for all stages of initiatives from proposal and requirement definitions to project planning and implementation.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and assess vendor proposals
  • Manage multiple, parallel projects using formal project planning techniques
  • Set up projects in the Viewpoint System
  • Establish fabrication schedules and objectives
  • Coordinate with Contractors
  • Communicate progress towards production, financial, quality and safety goals to internal and external stakeholders
  • Negotiate change orders
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships


Other Job Functions

  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Continuing education through certification programs, training, seminars, etc.



Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 10 years of general and 5 years of project management experience in the PEMB, Structural Steel Industry – commercial fabrication experience is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with Excel, Dropbox, MS Office

The successful candidate will be responsible for  planning, record keeping ,  Bid Estimating and the completion of all stages of different electrical installations and services for Commercial and Residential projects. They will attend necessary meetings to obtain the required  information to perform bids, develop bids, submit bids, and oversee projects as well as supervise electricians, apprentices, and trades helpers in all aspects of a project. A major part of this position is to provide a proactive interface between customers and the electricians to ensure cost effective completion of projects. Work is performed in a variety of commercial and residential environments, from new construction to service in central Arkansas.



  • Evaluate, recommend and apply preventative measures to ensure safety on projects
  • Plan, coordinate and implement all work needed to perform projects while appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Estimate and provide a budget for a variety of projects
  • Receive bids, determine if we can respond to bid, communicate with vendor(s) on bids, compute pricing and pricing margins, prepare reports on bid responses, and maintain bid database
  • Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to clients. Value-engineer projects to remove cost and drive savings to our customer
  • Order and purchase materials for new installations, replacement parts and inventory
  • Work as a liaison with general contractors and inspect completed work to verify its conformity to specs and safety
  • Prioritize and assign incoming work orders and provide technical support and assistance for other electricians
  • Communicate with Vendors and Customers and their representatives in all capacities on a regular basis
  • Assist in planning, developing, and implementing new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs and affect greater utilization of department resources
  • Successfully communicate and contribute to the effectiveness of the management team through addressing relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
  • Complete timely billing for all assigned jobs
  • Provide Technical Support for technicians as needed. Update and/or provide suggestions on Scope changes based on recurring issues or greater efficiencies as they are discovered.
  • Maintain and grow extraordinarily strong relationships with our clients
  • Identify and promote opportunities to partner with new and existing customers
  • Communicate to all concerned parties project milestones, status updates, as well as any existing or potential customer escalation issues
  • Identify and nurture long-term business prospects that provide mutually-beneficial opportunities for Staley Electric and our clients
  • Lead and motivate a team through electrical installations and services meeting goals and margins while maintaining safety and ethics



  • Electrician License is preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in commercial and residential electrical project management and/or estimating required
  • 1 year of supervisor experience required, 2-3 year’s supervisor experience is preferred
  • Requires knowledge of the National Electric and Fire Codes
  • Ability to read and analyze request to interpret bids to  quote.
  • Review technical procedures and governmental documents and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multi-level personnel as well as vendors and their representatives
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, commissions, proportions, margins, and mark-up
  • Ability to work within the Microsoft Office products
  • Must be a self-motivated, goal oriented, quality driven individual and have the capability of working with  and without direct supervision
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the State and have an acceptable driving record
  • Exceptional communication skills including a demonstrated ability to listen to customer needs and develop solutions to meet them
